The cradle of Danish industry

Brede Klædefabrik was once the largest industrial site along the Mølleåen – an area often referred to as the cradle of Danish industry. As early as the Middle Ages, the water in the stream powered water mills, which later developed into industrial mills.

A community within the community

Brede Værk was a small community in its own right, providing everything a working family needed. The tour takes place mainly outdoors on the factory grounds and around the large factory buildings, which formed the heart of Brede Værk. But you will also have the unique opportunity to enter the Brede Main Building, where the factory director lived with his family, and to visit the more spartan but functional workers’ accommodation.
